As project lead, I oversaw every aspect, from early concept to final execution while managing a team of architects, consultants, and on-site collaborators. This was a high-stakes commission that demanded intense client coordination, precise execution on site, and constant negotiation between ambition and reality. Navigating through these layers of complexity shaped me into a performing architect. The result was an extraordinary home—deeply personal, spatially rich, and immaculately resolved.

Overlays is a 20,000 sq.ft. private residence designed and executed over three and a half years for one of India’s most influential families. The client, an avid art collector, required the architecture to be designed around her extensive collection. The project explores spatial layering, where gardens, art, and furniture are interwoven with the architecture. Landscaped courts, sunken seating areas, and circulation paths create a continuous visual flow between interior and exterior. Furniture was sourced globally to complement both the art and spatial rhythm.

A true highlight of the interiors is the embroidered wood technique, a process that marries tradition with innovation. Fine threads are meticulously woven into wooden panels that have been precision-drilled using CNC technology, resulting in a stunning fusion of old-world craftsmanship and modern precision. This intricate technique adds depth and texture, transforming each panel into a piece of art that embodies both heritage and innovation.

“What Could’ve Been If We Wouldn’t Have Been,” is a piece painted by me and then translated into embroidery on wood. It is a profound work of embroidery on wood, a craft patented by Rooshadshroff. It begins with a depiction of a serene sunset, a vista that offers a glimpse into a world untouched by human presence. The horizon becomes a portal, offering an invitation to contemplate what might have been if our cities and our existence had not left their mark on the Earth.
