We served as the local architects for the Louis Vuitton flagship store in Mumbai, a project that brought global luxury into conversation with Indian craft and design. Working closely with the Louis Vuitton Paris team, we developed bespoke furniture, curated Indian artworks, and delivered special finishes that met exacting international standards.

The store is elegantly divided into zones for men’s and women’s leather goods, retail areas, and a VIC (Very Important Clients) room. A refined palette of beige and oak veneer anchors the space, with gender-specific accents—pink for women and blue for men—carried through in art, furnishings, and detailing.

Intricate marble inlay patterns enrich the flooring, while our custom designed display tables bring a sleek, modern contrast. A vivid wire mesh installation by Rana Begum commands attention, and the women’s lounge, with its postmodern flair and subtle pink tones, offers a contemporary take on Indian furniture traditions.

The VIC areas are graced by embroidered wooden panels that steal the spotlight. These intricately embroidered panels come to life as artworks, carefully illustrated and translated into fabric codes and CNC perforations. Months of painstaking craftsmanship by numerous artisans have gone into these panels, amounting to a staggering 15,000 hours of dedication. The inspiration behind this art is Louis Vuitton’s enduring connection with India and its craftsmanship.

Titled “Something to Remember You By,” the artwork is a testament to Louis Vuitton’s commitment to remaining authentic and relevant to its context. The abstract composition masterfully blends the two signature store colors, transcending gender classifications and highlighting the evolving nature of fashion. The art is complemented by furniture that harmonizes seamlessly with the overall design, creating a visual symphony of aesthetics and craftsmanship.

Making of the Custom Block Printed Wallpaper

by 2M Atelier

The Men’s area features a custom wallpaper that celebrates India’s tradition of block printing. This ancient, hand-crafted technique uses intricately carved wooden blocks, layered to form detailed patterns passed down through generations. The wallpaper was created through our collaboration with 2m Atelier, led by Max Modesti, whose expertise helped bring this vision to life. The result is a unique piece that honours Indian artistry while seamlessly complementing the store’s design.
