Balance developed through an exploration of form and a persistent testing of what materials and making techniques could be asked to do. Rounded elements are stacked, displaced and extended into cantilevers, creating objects that appear to rest at the edge of stability. Their apparent ease depends on carefully resolved relationships between weight, support and connection. I worked across the collection from design development and prototyping through fabrication and its final presentation. Sketches and digital models moved into physical studies and workshop trials, with each stage testing the possibilities established by the previous one. Collaboration with craft practices and specialist fabrication studios brought stone carving, metal casting, embroidery and upholstery into a shared process. The work involved resolving how separately made components would meet, how an experimental form would become a usable object, and how the collection would ultimately be assembled, handled and exhibited.

Each piece became a way of asking how far craft could be pushed. A change in scale, an unfamiliar junction or a demanding curve required a technique to develop beyond its usual application. The collection took shape through these negotiations between the maker, the material and the intended form.
Hand techniques worked alongside digital modelling, CNC milling and advanced fabrication, with different processes informing different stages of the objects. Geometry could be established digitally and reconsidered through a prototype; a cast or carved component could demand a change in the assembly around it. These exchanges made fabrication an active part of design. Balance became a starting point for my own practice, establishing a way of working in which inherited knowledge and emerging tools develop the object together.

Armchair and Footstool
The Armchair presents luxurious cashmere fabric, dyed to achieve a range of desired shades. The base and ellipsoid feet are crafted from cast white bronze, and an ornamental third ellipsoid hand-carved from a single block of white onyx provides support at the rear of the seat. The overall silhouette exhibits a curvilinear form central to the collection

Coffee Table
A cantilevered tabletop is hand-carved to a thin tapering edge. An imposing ellipsoid base weighs against its smaller peer, which serves as a counter-support.
